Much is happening with soil sampling for the Soils4Africa project. The campaigns have been started in Nigeria, Ghana, and Burkina Faso, with relatively good progress. Furthermore, contract agreements will soon be finalized and signed for Tunisia, Egypt, Namibia and Zambia.
The project has also made progress with recruiting surveyors. In the past few months, many applications have been received from potential surveyors, and selection of the applications are well on the way. More surveyors would be beneficial to the project overall progress, helping to reach the project’s goal of developing an open-access soil information system (SIS) for Africa. The SIS will ultimately aid efforts towards Sustainable Intensification of agriculture across the continent. For more information about the project, visit our website:
