Soils4Africa continues its efforts with training and fieldtrip preparation

By December of 2023, Soils4Africa project has been in full implementation for 3.5 years. International Institute for Tropical Agriculture IITA, who is in charge of the work package for field campaign and capacity development (work package 4) is actively moving forward with the training and supervision of soil sample collection activities across the continent. Recently, the project has accomplished another training in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. Dr Jeroen Huising and Dr Samuel Ayodele Mesele (IITA) provided a direct training for 11 participants during a 4-day training program. The participants were trained on soil sampling protocol, coordination of the surveyors, data input to the SDMT, and shipment of samples to South Africa for lab analysis. This training equips the country supervisors and surveyors with the needed knowledge and skills to ensure that the soil samples are collected and shipped according to the project’s dedicated protocols.
