The
H2020 Soils4Africa project took part in a side event at the
Tropical Summit 2024, held in November 2024 in Lisbon, Portugal. The event brought together a cluster of EU H2020 projects working on sustainable intensification of agriculture in Africa.
Titled
“Transforming African Farming and Food Systems through Research and Innovation – A Presentation and Discussion with Six EU-H2020 Projects”, the side event provided a platform to share project goals, perspectives, challenges, and achievements.
Representing the Soils4Africa project, Luis Pisco Bexiga Calisto from ISRIC (Netherlands) presented the project and joined the panel discussion alongside representatives from five sister projects. The engaging discussion highlighted common challenges the projects face in their implementation efforts.
The Soils4Africa project attracted significant interest due to its generation of valuable field data and its draft Soil Information System (SIS) platform, accessible at
africasis.isric.org. The platform already provides country-level data, supporting the development and monitoring of sustainable intensification interventions initiated by other projects in the cluster.
